German violinist Johanna Röhrig and Polish pianist Aleksandra Myslek are both internationally active soloists and chamber musicians. Having met at the Royal Academy of Music in London, they not only bring individual excellence to their collaboration, but also a shared artistic language shaped by the intense growth and stage experience they underwent during their studies.

In 2017, they founded Duo Lunea – formerly Duo Pressenda – a collaboration that emerged from their long-standing musical connection and mutual admiration. Both artists, who are now internationally based, perform a broad and demanding repertoire that spans from the classical to the early modern era. Their concerts in Germany and the UK have included works by Janáček, Schubert, Franck, Mozart, and Fauré, among others.

With a deep commitment to artistic integrity, the duo approaches each composer with the aim of discovering a unique, personal sound world. Their interpretations are marked by intense emotional depth, refined expression, and a sensitive attention to stylistic nuance.

As one reviewer wrote, “Aleksandra’s piano playing was in perfect sympathy with the violin – controlled but full of expression at the same time – never the junior partner but always letting the violin excel where the music required.” Equally, “Johanna’s violin playing was sensitive and completely in keeping with each of the fairly contrasting pieces, making the most of the church’s acoustic, and flooding the building with glorious sound.”

Their work is continuously supported and inspired by renowned musicians such as Rodney Friend and Ian Brown. Highlights of their first season included an invitation to the distinguished Petworth Festival followed by performances at the Brilliant Young Musicians in Marlborough as well as recitals in High Wycombe, Hertfordshire and Hamburg.

One concert presenter described their appearance as “without doubt one of the very best of our past thirteen seasons.”
