Johanna Röhrig has been passionate about teaching for over 10 years, during which she has taught beginners, amateurs, and professionals of all ages in one-on-one lessons, always focussing on meeting the individual needs of her students, meeting them where they are at in their development.

In addition to offering violin lessons in Hamburg, Johanna also offers online lessons, which allows her to teach students from all over the world.

Her expertise in the field of violin instruction has been recognized internationally, including a masterclass at the L’Arte del’Arco Festival in Kazan and several participations in online lectures, such as through AURIO Magazin and RADDA Connect.

In my opinion, a solid technique is the foundation for every successful violinist, which is why I place special emphasis on correct posture, clean intonation, and a balanced tone in my teaching.

To achieve this, I tailor my approach to my student’s individual needs and abilities, and then focus on developing them further.
With my years of experience as a teacher and active concert violinist, I have a wide repertoire of exercises and methods that help my students continually improve their technique.

Of course, for me, playing the violin is not just about technical skills, but also about the creative interpretation of music, which is why in my lessons
I put a focus on the interpretation of musical pieces, the development of musical expression, and the improvement of ensemble playing with other musicians.

With my diverse experience as a soloist, chamber musician, and orchestral musician, I have an extensive repertoire of pieces and styles that I share with my students, passing on traditions. However, in the long term, my goal is to inspire my students and support them in developing their own musical ideas.

Understanding the context of a musical piece is an important part of my teaching because, in order to interpret a work appropriately and meaningfully, it is necessary to understand the historical background, composer biographies, and stylistic era.

By knowing the cultural and historical connections, my students can develop a deeper understanding of the music and thus make their interpretation more authentic and creative. Together, we embark on a musical journey in the classroom that deepens your understanding and appreciation of music.
