Mozart’s Idomeneo inspires audience and press
As concertmaster of the Rungholt Ensemble Hamburg, Johanna Röhrig participated in a total of five concert performances of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s Idomeneo at the Allee Theater Hamburg. Under the musical direction of Ettore Prandi, the Ensemble brought Mozart’s rarely performed masterpiece to the stage in a top-class production.
The performance was received by the Hamburger Abendblatt with great enthusiasm. In its review, the newspaper described the production as “heartbreaking” and spoke of an “only high pleasure”. The extraordinary musical quality of the orchestra, the excellent ensemble of singers and the intensive interpretation of the score were particularly highlighted. The performance convinced by its tonal expressiveness, dramatic tension and emotional depth.
Johanna Röhrig worked as concertmaster in this production of the Rungholt Ensemble Hamburg for the third year in a row. The continuous cooperation with the ensemble and its founder and musical director Ettore Prandi reflects a long-standing artistic connection. Idomeneo is one of the most demanding works in the opera repertoire and makes the highest demands on stylistic sensitivity, chamber music interaction and musical precision.
